One Night with the King follows the the biblical story of Esther, a Jewish girl formerly known as Hadassah, who is chosen to be the next Queen of Susa after the King banished Queen Vashti for her disobidence. Esthers uncle Mordacia commands her not to reveal her identity to anyone in fear it may put her in harms way. The film adds stylistic elements that are not present in the biblical narrative.
